BioLite – a Stove that Generates Electricity

How would you like to have a portable stove – great for camping and other travel – where there is no electricity? You will be able to use the stove as a regular stove and whatever heat is remaining can be used to generate electricity to power various gadgets.

Though it has been designed for rural areas particularly in the developed and underdeveloped parts of the globe, the BioLite is a viable alternative for campers and travelers. It is extremely efficient in generating heat and electricity.

It is also environmentally friendly in that it can burn almost anything, including sticks and branches and very fast as well. It houses a thermoelectric generator which starts when there is excess heat. This then separates the wood gas from the wood and mixes it with oxygen to increase the heat level.

The extra power can be used to light an LED lamp or charge devices via USB. As it uses wood, it is not completely eco-friendly, but at least it burns the wood efficiently, so you will use less than you would with a conventional wood or coal burning stove. It is not yet available commercially later this year. It also reduces smoke emission by 95 percent, making it greener to use.
