A Battery Powered Home?

| April 25, 2010 | 0 Comments

Just imagine if your whole house could be powered by a battery. No dependence on electricity, diesel for generators, electric grids or what have you. Just a small gadget which will store all the power that a normal house needs for a week.

And yet this kind of device is already being manufactured though it is still in the testing stage. Panasonic has bought a 50 percent stake in Sanyo both companies have combined their synergies to become bigger and better. Panasonic has announced its plans to market a lithium-ion storage cell for home use around the year 2011.

This battery will use solar power to generate electricity which will be stored and used as and when needed. To make it even more environmentally friendly, it will sold together with a system that will enable households to check electricity usage on a home-based TV display. This will result in great reduction in carbon dioxide emissions and also generate cleaner and greener electricity. If it comes in widespread use it will reduce dependence on fossil fuels to generate electricity.
