The Solar Powered Speedboat

The sun is the most underutilized source of energy we have today. It is clean and free and the sun shines in most parts of the world for long period of time, whether the sunshine is weak or strong. That is why, in an effort to reduce dependence on non-renewable energy sources, researchers and designers are making a concerted effort to use the sunlight in more appliances, gadgets and various devices.
An off-shoot of the hybrid or solar powered car is the solar powered speed boat. Dutch researchers at the Technical University of Delft have developed the world’s first solar-powered speedboat called the Czeers MK1. It is a 10-meter vessel covered in photovoltaic cells and can reach a fast top speed of up to 30 knots. The boat itself is made of black carbon fiber which is covered with 150 meters of photovoltaic cells.
This 33 foot craft is a luxurious speed boat and of course expensive. The boat does not compromise on any technical specification. You can even get one specially designed for yourself according to your requirements and you can get smaller versions, too. Then you can speed away in the waters in the sunlight without fear of running out of fuel.
