Pega Design and Engineering which has already won many awards for making sustainable design products, has now received another award for its futuristic material which can be used for many computer electronics. Called paper pp alloy, this material will replace plastic shelling.

If you think about it, ABS plastic is used for many purposes whether it is in cell phones, computers and computer peripherals as well. It is also used in appliances and automobiles, among many items of daily use and even has many industrial uses. Being a chemical substance, plastic add a great deal of environmental pollution, but because it is lightweight and sturdy, it seems to be virtually irreplaceable.

Thanks to Pega’s research and innovation, pp paper alloy can hopefully reduce plastic pollution. It is made of recyclable paper and pp (polypropylene). The high paper component makes this recyclable, reusable and biodegradable – all signs of reducing the carbon footprint.

It can be molded into any shape and size, using the injection molding process. It is very strong, sturdy and flexible like the ABS plastic it is supposed to replace. It is also cheaper to manufacture than plastic and hopefully will bring the prices of products it is used in down.
