Nokia has a huge presence in mobile phones and now it has turned its attention to making its phones as environmentally friendly as possible – they are already user friendly. It has been awarded the highest ranking by Greenpeace for eliminating toxic chemicals which pollute the earth from its phones and also recycling its phones.

The company has incorporated energy saving features in some of its phones. Its new ReMade concept for phones is that the phone should be made from fully recycled materials like aluminum cans, plastic bottles and old car tires.

It has also released its Evolve model which is made partially from renewable materials and has an energy saving charger. Nokia has also announced that it is working on a prototype of an advanced featured phone which has a glass and wooden body (made from sustainable timber), 8 mega pixel camera, Bluetooth, speaker and Symbian operating system.

The Nokia 1610 plus model is also environmentally friendly as it features a lightweight battery with solar panels. This extends the battery of the phone and gives the user more talk time without the phone running out of juice – seven hours of talk time and nine days of standby time.

Nokia is packaging its phones in mostly recycled and recyclable materials and doing its best to reduce its carbon footprint. It is planning to introduce at least 40 new phones which will be made of biodegradable components and be recyclable as well. As the company is a market leader, these phones will surely be lapped up by Nokia fans who are eco-friendly.
