Solar Light Bulb

Light bulbs are used all over the world, though the incandescent ones may have been replaced by CFLs or LEDs which are more environmentally friendly. Stephen Katsaros conceptualized this bulb, made by Nokeros. This 6-ounce bulb looks much like a traditional bulb, but it has solar panels on the sides, which harness the sun’s energy to light the solar bulb.

Eco-Friendly Dry Toner

That is why increasing numbers of manufacturers are using recycled paper and packing products and even soy inks to reduce their carbon footprint. Xeikon’s dry toners for the packaging and labeling are an eco-friendly initiative to reduce the carbon footprint.

Its QA 1 dry toner is for industrial applications and its QA P is for printing. Dry toner digital printing is known for its eco-friendliness compared to traditional offset technologies – no VOC emission, less energy and less waste. The company has obtained FDA approval for direct and indirect food contact.

Nanotech Spray on Solar Panels

They have to be bought separately and come in different sizes and are often attached to the devices. But new technology has changed that. Ensol, a Norwegian company, have taken the concept a step further with a spray on solar panel.

GENeco’s VW Beetle – Fuelled by Human Waste

Lots of jokes floating around GENeco’s entrepreneurial venture of using gas extracted from human waste to fuel a converted VW Beetle. But jokes aside, the venture has potential. Owned by Wessex Water, GENeco is a company, which works on sustainable energy projects. And what can be more sustainable than human waste? It may be eco-friendly, but it will still release carbon dioxide into the air, though that would have been released anyway.

The Solar Bike – Fujin

There are many places the world over where bikes are in use, whether western countries in Europe or third world countries. Bikes are used for many purposes even in advanced countries. Japanese manufacturer, Hama Zero has launched its new solar bike, Fujin.

It is an electric bike which is solar powered and is aptly called Solar Bike Fujin. It features solar panels which are on a box like structure at the back of the bike and give the effect of wings. These panels harness the solar energy to power the 940W/h lithium-ion battery which allows the bike to reach a top speed of 45 mph and run for 137 miles on a full charge.

Environmentally Friendly Air Conditioners

A Rocking Chair that generates Electricity

While a rocking chair may be thought to be the domain of grandparents, gently rocking away, it is a fact that rocking chairs can be extremely comfortable. And a newly designed rocking chair can also be used to generate electricity.

Ryan Klinger has designed this chair, named Empower, which was one of the finalists in the Greener Gadgets competition. Swinging or rocking on this chair which is hooked up to a kinetic energy generator and lithium-ion batteries, means that you will be producing electricity.
