The Solar-Powered Golf Cart

If you are an avid golfer, you can do your bit for the environment not just by using an electricity powered golf cart, but one which runs on solar power. This uses clean and green energy, which does not cost either.

Hammacher Schlemmer makes an electric golf cart which has a solar panel on the top, featuring 72 photovoltaic cells to capture solar energy. This recharges the battery and offer 33 percent more range. It also helps extend the life of the battery by as much as 60 percent than electric carts.

Green Funerals – An Eco-Friendly Burial

Death may be a morbid subject, but it is an immutable fact. Now that the baby boomers are getting older – they are the ones who started the eco-friendly movement – they are also looking at greener options to traditional burials.

Normal, traditional funerals need formaldehyde in embalming (if required). Then there is wood which is used for coffins and stone for memorial stone for memorials. In those cases where there is cremation, wood is not an eco-friendly way to burn the body.

In Britain 220 woodland cemetries have come up to provide a more environmentally friendly alternative. Natural burial ground provide green open spaces which are better than bare grounds. Instead of headstones there will be radio frequency identification systems attached to the ground or pegged to memorials.

The Recharge Pod Mk2 is a self sustaining, free standing mobile charging station. It can charge up to 104 mobiles at a time. It uses solar power and wind energy to generate the electricity for the power docking station. And it charges different mobiles, not just LG’s. Any unused energy is stored in it battery bank.

New Holland Agriculture’s Innovative Hydrogen Fuel Tractor

Tractors are used by farmers and agriculturists all over the world. While farmers grow green produce, nobody really thinks how tractors are not exactly earth-friendly vehicles. That is why New Holland’s Hydrogen Fuel Tractor, when it is launched, should make environmentalists smile.

This company walked away with the silver and gold awards at SIMA’s show this year. This Paris International Agri-Business Show highlights all innovations in agriculture. The gold medal was won for a totally energy self-sufficient farm and the tractor was one of the exhibits in the farm.
