The Solar Candle

Candles are in used even now, though they may used more for mood lighting or for perfuming the air via aromatic candles. However, candles need a candle stand and they need to be lit. Then they drip wax and the wax is often difficult to clean up. The Solar Candle does not need to be lit and does not drip. In addition, it looks and feels like a regular candle.

Solar Light Bulb

Light bulbs are used all over the world, though the incandescent ones may have been replaced by CFLs or LEDs which are more environmentally friendly. Stephen Katsaros conceptualized this bulb, made by Nokeros. This 6-ounce bulb looks much like a traditional bulb, but it has solar panels on the sides, which harness the sun’s energy to light the solar bulb.

Pharox LED Light – The Power Saver

First we had the incandescent bulbs, then we had the tube lights which gave white light and saved power, then we had CFLs which also gave white light and saved even more power. Now we have LED lights, which are more environmentally friendly.

The Pharox 500 produces 500 lumens of light, consuming only 7 watts of power. So it not only uses less power, gives more light, but your electricity bill, too, comes down. This LED light is eco-friendly and produces no hazardous waste or gives out poisonous mercury vapors like the CFLs do.

The Sunnan Solar Powered Lamp

It is wireless and portable and can give four hours of bright light, without using any electric power. It is also available in many colors to suit any décor. The Sunnan is a lamp which can be used by children and adults whenever they are doing any desk work pr for bedside reading.

The lamp is cute and comes with 3 rechargeable batteries. The batteries need to soak up sunlight for about nine hours in bright sunlight and 12 hours on a cloudy day. Then they will give light for 3-4 hours. Because it is wireless it can be carried anywhere where it is needed.

A Garden Light Powered By Wind

There are many environmentally friendly solar gadgets and in comparison, wind power is used much less. However, this garden light looks right at home in a garden because it is shaped like a flower and uses wind energy as its source of power.

Its petals are the wind propellers and the slightest breeze is sufficient to move them. The propellers are connected to a machine which helps harness the wind energy to trun it into electricity. The energy is stored in a battery.

Wind Turbines to Power Street Lights

Can you imagine a scenario where cars passing by would be able to power highway lights along with natural winds via wind turbines? Somebody did, by thinking out of the box. The turbine light is a concept at present, but think of all the power and energy it can save if this can be turned into a practical application.

The system would feature a built-in wind turbine that uses the moving air from cars on the highways to generate clean energy, which is then used to power the lights. Clean and green, eco-friendly and free!

Hulger’s Low Energy Consuming Fancy Bulbs

Many people still feel that incandescent lights offer warm light as opposed to the white light offered by CFLs. However, CFLs last longer and consume much less power, thus being extremely eco-friendly. White light is also cooler and mimics daylight.

LED Christmas Tree Lights: Safer and Greener

With Christmas not too far away it is time for Christmas trees and holiday decorations. While candles, lights and other decorations make the Christmas display what it is, are you aware of the fact that ordinary lights and candles on trees are often responsible for Christmas tree fires and that people can die because of this?
