Wind Turbines to Power Street Lights

Can you imagine a scenario where cars passing by would be able to power highway lights along with natural winds via wind turbines? Somebody did, by thinking out of the box. The turbine light is a concept at present, but think of all the power and energy it can save if this can be turned into a practical application.

The system would feature a built-in wind turbine that uses the moving air from cars on the highways to generate clean energy, which is then used to power the lights. Clean and green, eco-friendly and free!

Hulger’s Low Energy Consuming Fancy Bulbs

Many people still feel that incandescent lights offer warm light as opposed to the white light offered by CFLs. However, CFLs last longer and consume much less power, thus being extremely eco-friendly. White light is also cooler and mimics daylight.

LED Christmas Tree Lights: Safer and Greener

With Christmas not too far away it is time for Christmas trees and holiday decorations. While candles, lights and other decorations make the Christmas display what it is, are you aware of the fact that ordinary lights and candles on trees are often responsible for Christmas tree fires and that people can die because of this?

Environmentally friendly LED Christmas tree lights are not only cooler, given out less heat than normal decorative incandescent bulbs, but are a greener alternative. A Water Bottle by Day, a Lantern by Night

Now what could be more eco-friendly or useful than this – a water bottle lid which can fasten onto most water bottles which turns into a light in the night! Great for camping and the great outdoors even for drives in the night. You almost always need water and light is extremely useful in the dark.

The Solar-Powered Lantern

It is always a good idea to have a lantern around for emergencies, particularly when you are in your car or going camping, because you never know when you will need one. However, batteries for a lantern are a pain, because if you keep the batteries in the lantern, chances are that they will leak out before you can even use it and battery acid can even damage the lantern.

Street lights use a lot of power but are a necessity. You know how awful it feels walking and even driving when the street lights are off. Now a South Korean designer named Sung Woo Park has come up with an environmentally friendly way to power street lights in a differently and save energy.

Low energy LED street lights can now be powered by discarded batteries. Yes the batteries that you are throwing away can be put into special tubes attached to this kind of street light. The batteries have to put in a particular way so that their poles match.

Ever since we have been using electricity to power our homes and provide us with light, we have been on the look out for the better bulb. Incandescent or old-style filament bulbs use a lot of electricity and give out yellow light. They also have a tendency to go off faster, resulting in a recurring cost. Tube lights, though expensive initially, have lower running costs but give out a bright white light. The newer CFL’s, too, give out white light and are cheaper to run. LED lights are still to become affordable.
