Teva’s Needle Free Injection

This one is specially made for kids suffering from growth hormone deficiency and needing to take regular injections of somatropin, which Teva manufactures as TEV-TROPIN®. The Tjet penetrates the stratum corneum (outermost layer skin) and is delivered into the subcutaneous (below the skin) tissue in two seconds through a tiny opening in the skin less than one third the size of a 30-gauge needle.

Increasingly, older people tend to need hearing aids because their hearing capabilities go down. A hearing aid usually requires charging via batteries and/or electricity, but now Howard Weinstein has designed a hearing aid which can work on solar power.

You may well feel that hearing aids do not consume much power and since they are medical aids, it is okay to use that power. However, there are poor people in many countries who may not have access to electricity and changing batteries may be too expensive, even if they are available.

The Solar Powered Eye Implant for the Blind

There are many kinds of blindness and there is always ongoing research to help the blind see. Researchers at Stanford University have developed a new artificial retina implant which uses solar power to help the blind see.

Earlier implants had a major limitation – there was no way to power the chip inside. The researchers came up with an environmentally friendly solution: using miniature photovoltaic cells to provide power to the chip as well as to transmit data through the eye to the brain. The new device has great promise to help people afflicted by the loss of photoreceptor cells by using the power of the sun.

Baby Bottles Which Are Not Dangerous to a Baby’s Health

If you are a new parent or expecting a baby, you should be aware that many baby bottles are not good for baby’s health. Bottles which are made of hard plastic contain Bisphenol A (or BPA) which are harmful chemicals linked to changing behaviour patterns in children as well early onset of puberty. Apart from that plastic and polycarbonate are not environmentally friendly substances and release toxic elements into the atmosphere when burnt.
