Chrysler’s Peapod Electric Car

Chrysler has recently launched the GreenEcoMobility (GEM) electric peapod shaped car soon. This cute looking vehicle is powered six 12 volt flooded electrolyte batteries and is a zero emission car.
Dubbed as the neighborhood car, it is not meant for long drives as it can go for only 30 miles on a single charge. It can only reach a top speed of 25 mph. So basically it is meant to be used for very short distances and would be great for kids who are of legal driving age to wander around in the neighborhood.
They have been planned for use in city centers, planned communities, military bases, college campuses, corporate and commercial centers, and city, state and national parks and are street legal in more than 40 states. Larger vehicles are also slated to be launched soon.
It uses eco-friendly, recycled and recyclable materials and has ergonomically designed mesh seating. This environmentally friendly little car also features iPod integration and hands free talking on your iPhone. Obviously it cannot take the place of your normal vehicle but can be great for use in small villages or for short distances where speed is not of the essence.
